ISN – Towards a sustainable League

Gavan Duffy, Chairperson of the The Galway United Friends Co-operative  attended the Irish Supporter Network (ISN) event “Towards a Sustainable League” held at Tallaght Stadium on Sunday 26th March.  Other representatives of ISN founders Cork City, Finn Harps, and the 1895 Trust were also in attendance. There were other attendees from Saint Patrick’s Athletic, Shamrock Rovers, UCD, and Cliftonville of the Irish League.  League director Fran Gavin opened the event and in his address emphasised the need to work together within the league and pledged the full support of the FAI for the ISN.

Report of the Co-op AGM 2017

Report of Galway Soccer Co-op AGM 2017  that was held on Monday evening 20th February at the Ryan Room in the Connacht Hotel. The Chair for the evening, Gavan Duffy, opened the AGM just after 8pm.  Once a qurom was established the meeting progressed. The agenda was suspended and the Chair invited the Galway United Team Manager, Shane Keegan, and Head of development, Johnny Glynn to address the meeting.

Report of Galway Soccer Co-op AGM 2016

Report of Galway Soccer Co-op AGM  that was held on Monday evening 25th January at Eamonn Deacy Park. The Chair for the evening, Jim Brennan, opened the meeting just after 7pm. He gave a brief update of the activities for the year which included setting up the co-op and building the membership of over 200 people. He recognised that this year would be an important year for the development of the co-op. He then introduced the Galway United Team Manager, Tommy Dunne, to address the meeting.

Galway Soccer Co-op holds first AGM

The Galway Soccer Co-Op that was established in December 2014 held its first Annual General Meeting at The Meyrick Hotel on Sunday, April 26th. The main purpose of the AGM was to elect the Co-Op’s Management Committee for the forthcoming year. This committee replaced the initial steering group who had established the co-op.
The management committee for 2015 is made up of the following; James Brennan, Nicola Deacy, Tom Quigley, Cliff Rowe (outgoing steering group members); Ger Bane, Mike Buckley, Ronan Coleman, Caomhan O’Connell, James O’Toole. Following the AGM the Management Committee of Galway Soccer Co-op  elected James Brennnan, Nicola Deacy and Tom Quigley to the roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Nicola Deacy and Tom Quigley are representing the Galway Soccer Co-op on the Galway United Board of Directors.

Galway Soccer Co-operative Launch Night

The Launch of the Galway Soccer Co-operative was attend by well over 100 people in the Meyrick Hotel in Galway city on the 8th December. The event was broadcast live on Galway Bay FM and speakers on the night included the Mayor of Galway City, Donal Lyons, FAI Cheif Excetutive, John Delaney, Galway United Manger, Tommy Dunne, and Galway United Chairperson Bernie O’Connell.

Although he shall not be able to attend in person the President of Ireland, Micheal D Higgins, says he shall be `celebrating with us in spirit’ the occasion of the launch of the Galway Soccer Co-op.

A supporter-run co-operative which will have a say in the day-to-day running of Galway United will be launched on 8th December at the Hotel Meyrick (6pm).

A group have set up the Galway Soccer Co-Op / Comharchumann Sacair Na Gaillimhe Teo after six months of hard work and it has the full backing of the Galway United board.
